A HOLLY JOLLY DISCO

Christmas 2022 is the year of the disco, and I am here for it! I knew I wanted something playful and romantic for this year’s holiday theme, while also retaining a few traditional elements. I wanted to go above and beyond with how we decorated our main Christmas tree last year, which was simply doused in tinsel. It was a sight to behold, and I wanted to take that a step further this year by adding disco balls and a fun pop of color throughout. My daughter adores pink and begs me to decorate with it every year, so I thought this would be the ideal time to incorporate some pinks, blushes, and maroons while still keeping it sophisticated.

In the living room, I focused on the mantle because I wanted it to be the showstopper. I added groupings of golden candlesticks with multi-hued tapers and various-sized disco balls to make it really shine within the traditional garland that drapes the mantle. Tinsel was draped along the side, allowing its reflective light to cascade downward near matching stockings. My Christmas village also got an upgrade this year with the addition of some fun pink trees, which echo the overall color story of the space, and, of course, disco balls dispersed throughout the scene.

The dining room is where all our yummy Christmas dinners will take place, so I wanted to romanticize this space while still keeping it fun and shiny. The base of the tablescape is a beautiful blush cheese cloth. I then adorned the entire table with muted candlesticks and a traditional reindeer and garland centerpiece. Classic white plates are dressed up with gold-rimmed glass chargers, and the gold is reiterated in the napkin rings that hold gauzy pink napkins. It’s impactful, but also highly functional and ready for dinner anytime. I can’t wait to have all our family meals here this Christmas season.
