THE PADRE HOTEL

THE PADRE HOTEL

The Padre Hotel is known as one of Bakersfield’s newest yet oldest treasures. “Constructed in 1928 amidst the oil boom of the Central Valley, The Padre Hotel embodies the Spanish Colonial Revival architectural style and was a symbol of California’s emerging glamour,” explains Stacy Warner, Executive Vice President of Eat.Drink.Sleep. Hospitality Group. “In 2010, a substantial restoration project was undertaken to revive its splendor, with meticulous preservation of many original architectural features. Honoring the region’s history, the hotel retained its original name and iconic neon sign.”

The hotel boasts 112 luxurious rooms and suites, as well as multiple dining options and meeting spaces that were upgraded in 2024. “The décor is cowboy chic, celebrating California’s past while embracing the region’s dynamic modern day,” explains Warner. High-end amenities and teak furnishings can be found in every room, all of which have names reminiscent of a colorful past. A variety of rooms and suites give guests plenty of accommodation options to choose from: Maverick and Accessible Maverick, Double Deuce, Corner Pocket, and 40 Winks. Suites include Head Honcho, Oil Baron, and Farmer’s Daughter.

All around the hotel, the décor blends timeless elegance and historic charm with modern amenities. The result is a stand-out option for guests seeking upscale accommodations. The Padre is the region’s only Four Diamond Hotel. “Padre Hotel welcomes guests with views of the historic Fox Theater, gourmet on-site dining options, and exceptional service,” says Warner, noting the establishment’s AAA Four Diamond rating. Padre Hotel has also been named TripAdvisor’s #1 Traveler Hotel in Bakersfield and holds the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, making it a destination where luxury meets vintage.

In addition, “Padre is the area’s premier destination for social events and weddings,” Warner shares. “Something is always happening at Padre Hotel, from live music on the rooftop to elaborate holiday brunches and parties. Annual events include Bakersfield Unplugged, a showcase for Bakersfield’s renowned music scene, a spooky multi-level Halloween party, and a NYE silent disco.” Being a historical landmark in Downtown Bakersfield, “the restoration of Padre Hotel serves as a driver to downtown’s revitalization and a cultural hub,” she professes.

There is also access to a fitness center and an event space, dining options at The Padre Hotel are a major attraction for both locals and travelers. Gourmet dining is offered at Brimstone Bar and Farmacy Cafe, and exciting nightlife can be found at the Prairie Fire rooftop. “Brimstone Bar serves craft cocktails and upscale comfort food. Farmacy Cafe serves hand-crafted coffee drinks, house-made pastries, and breakfast favorites. Prairie Fire serves craft cocktails and elevated pub classics on a rooftop with firepits and city views,” explains Warner.

When you stay at The Padre Hotel, you will experience the best of Bakersfield. With its historical atmosphere, rancher chic design, modern amenities, and fantastic food and drink offerings, there’s something for every patron. Whether you’re looking for nightlife, a breakfast spot, or a table with a view, The Padre Hotel invites all those who enter through its doors to come and enjoy an abundance of opportunities beneath the iconic neon sign that has made it a landmark and gathering point for locals and passers-by for nearly a century.
