AN INDIAN SUMMER
Bollywood in grand Beverly Hills style
With so much color, vibrancy, food, people, rituals, music, fun and frolic, the Indian wedding is truly a festival in itself. It not only unites the bride and groom, but also their families.
Atul Jain and Neeta Varshney met while volunteering at a health fair for the underserved in Los Angeles. It wasn’t long before the two doctors (who were giving eye exams) only had eyes for each other.
Hindu weddings customarily begin with a baraat, a traditional Northern Indian wedding procession in which the groom rides on a white horse to the bride and her family. “We decided to go all out and have an elephant take Atul down the grove,” Neeta says, “with his family and friends cheering him along the way.”
This vibrant wedding, filled with bold colors, flowers, music and dancing into the night was truly an intoxicating feast for the senses.
