As the Chief Medical Officer of United Health Centers of the San Joaquin Valley, I consider myself to be truly blessed to be part of a group with such excellent executives, providers, and staff members. Having worked in previous environments where patients were routinely turned away for being uninsured or underinsured, I am honored to work at UHC where all patients are welcomed and will receive compassionate care. As a native Californian, who was raised in an underserved community, I greatly respect the high level of integrity, sacrifice, and good stewardship that are deeply embedded within the fabric of UHC.

WHAT MOTIVATES ME
I’ve always been motivated by the challenge of providing adequate access and high-quality healthcare to all patients. Working at UHC has afforded me the opportunity to work collectively with a leadership team and providers who have devoted their careers to accomplishing the same goal. As a result, UHC continues to expand its geographic footprint and positively impact the lives of communities that need it most.

WHAT I AM THANKFUL FOR
I am thankful that patients continue to entrust us with the honor of providing healthcare for them, and for the opportunity to work for an organization that strives to meet the I.C.A.R.E model of healthcare. Integrity, compassion, advocacy, respect, and excellence are foundational tenets by which we care for all members of our communities.

HOW I MEASURE SUCCESS
I measure success based on the quantity of patients whose lives we are able to positively impact, and the overall quality of care that we extend to them. In isolation, quantity and/or quality are unsustainable. Yet, UHC has an excellent balance of both objectives, which is why we are considered the healthcare provider-of-choice for many patients.
