FISH GALA 2023
Benefiting Breaking the Chains, Fresno
FISH (Fund for Indian Subcontinent Heritage) Philanthropies hosted their FISH Gala 2023 on Saturday, September 16th, 2023 in the backyard of the Bezwada family in Fresno. The event aims to raise awareness and funds for local organizations that the South Asian Community wants to support. This year, it benefited Breaking the Chains, Fresno with 420+ attendees present. A live auction was hosted for the first time. The Fresno Philharmonic graciously donated their performance for the evening. Alongside this, classic Indian melodies enriched the ambiance. Attendees appreciated the thoughtful addition of a candle bar, and the event was complemented by a spread of delectable Indian cuisine. Assemblyman Jim Patterson inaugurated the gala. He spoke about the recently passed bill SB 14 that he championed—its objective is to redefine human trafficking of minors as a “serious felony” for various legal purposes.
